putting my face on

a few images that ii used in my coursework last year, inspired by the photographer - Dennis Pedersen - from the last post.
photography & promotion are feilds that ii am interested in, which ii hope to be involved in in the future. make-up is very popular in the world of advertising as it's one of the most important 'non-essentials' in life; to give you the confidence to feel beautiful on the outside.
some of my personal favourites are: Rimmel London's liquid & pencil exaggerate eyeliners, L'Oreal lipglosses, Urban Decay eyeshadows, and Barry M nailpolishes.

ii am really inspired by his style of photography. ii love his use of colour and the way he puts an editorial twist on commercial photography, by capturing an artistic vision instead of slapping makeup on a model.

beauty lesson 101

so over the weekend ii tried this new concept of 'not looking like an emo band reject'. after (finally) realizing that all the clothes belonging tu me, hangin on the washing line... were black; and when i'm looking around a shop everythin ii see that ii like ii think 'well i'd buy that if it were black or white', or ii consider buyin things from the mens section. ii even have some tee's that are size 14-18, when i'm size 8. ii think i'm due a visit from Gok Wan soon. also someone mentioned something about the fact that ii don't own a dress (other than the shortest BLACKest dress ever, that sits in the back of my wardrobe).
ii find it quite sad that i'm not a very feminine girl. as this always has been considered the most beautiful kind of look. of course i'm not masculine either. but ever since my mum stopped dressing me, it's been faded jeans with holes in the knees and trainers and hoodies, then moving on tu black from head tu toe, and half of Superdrug's eyeliner. ii own two pairs of shoes that ii actually wear: both Converse's. *alarm bells*.
Sunday morning: digging tu the depths of my wardrobe tu discover a long-discarded plain pink tee, white skirt, white cardigan, pink eyeshadow & lipgloss, nil trace of eyeliner... my mum was thrilled at my 'new look', of course. as soon as ii looked in the mirror ii told her it wasn't staying. at least ii tried & tested it. and technically it did stay, for a whole 24 hours.
beauty isn't always about looking your best. it's just about being youu. even if your not natural-looking - like i'm certainly not - as long as your comfortable with yourself that's all that matters. no matter what youu look like or how 'ugly' youu make yourself look, you'll always be beautiful tu somebody, because it's your personality that people see written all over your face. beauty comes from within & shows on the outside.

ii might be just plain crazy, but ii think their products are awesome!

their variety of temporary lip appliques (tattoos), have that daring edge to them that would only be seen on bold people or runway models.

if you're going to make a statement with your appearance; this is definately the way to do so.

around half of my magazine collection over the past year. Marie Claire, Vogue, Elle, Harper's Bazaar, & Instyle. all fantastic for keeping up with the latest fashion events each month, of course.

Harper's Bazaar has the best covers in my opinion. two examples of their stunning work below.

not all that keen on Kate Moss ii gotta admit, though she has a brilliant editorial look & ii usually love whatever she's seen in. such as this dress, which reminds me of a swan. it just has something about it.

& the beautiful Eva Green.

though nothing compares to Marie Claire for me, contents-wise. even though it's mostly adverts and fashion photographs (that ii cut up & use in my coursework quite often) - and isn't packed with celebrity gossip, which makes it a dull & pointless magazine to a lot of people, it's still great to flick through. also the interviews, occasional freebies & info from the sex expert are well worth the buy.

the highlight of my wardrobe

so ii figured as a starting point; ii just had to use these babies!
ii have been the proud owner of a pair of knee-high converse for a few months now, & ii must say they are the most gorgeous and comfortable shoes i've ever owned (not that ii own a great deal of shoes for a girl. infact ii think most men own more pairs of shoes than ii do *sigh*). people literally stare at your feet everywhere youu go, & i've had plenty of compliments! £50 on www.schuh.co.uk.
